ASBPA Director Shea Penland found dead

ASBPA, the State of Louisiana, and America's coast lost a friend and voice
on Tuesday with the death of Shea Penland.

"All I know, is that if I wanted to learn about the LA coast, I always knew
who to talk to - Shea Penland. He had a passionate understanding of the
coastal geology, oceanography and engineering of that state. His loss makes
the coastal challenges that state faces seem even more insurmountable,"
stated colleague and friend Dr. Scott Douglass.

In 2004 he was a keynote speaker for the ASBPA's Fall Conference in New
