Tuesday, Oct. 9: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. ― Full-day USACE planning workshop

The Future of US Army Corps of Engineers Coastal Project Planning and Implementation" Presented by USACE National Planning Center for Coastal Storm Damage Reduction. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the midst of a Civil Works Transformation that is intended to change how the Corps performs planning, budgeting, and lifecycle management of Water Resources Projects. There are 4 Pillars to the Civil Works Transformation (Planning Transformation (i.e. 3,3,3), Transforming the Budget Development Process, Asset Management, and Methods of Delivery). This course will provide the attendees with an overview and update of the Corps’ Civil Works Transformation, with an emphasis on the planning transformation and the application of this initiative to coastal projects. The course will provide an overview of the Corps process, and how it is changing under this initiative. The course will utilize several west-coast specific case studies to demonstrate the application of the Civil Works Transformation. The session will be rounded out with a panel discussion of Corps’ representatives to discuss the broader implications of this initiative.
