ASBPA Student Information: Committee Update

February 28 – March 1, the 2012 Coastal Summit was hosted in Washington, D.C. This conference focused primarily on policy and management at the Federal, State, and Local levels.

The 2012 National Coastal Conference in San Diego, CA is an excellent venue to present your latest graduate (or undergraduate!) research to the nation’s leading coastal professionals. The student involvement committee will be actively reaching out to encourage the largest turn-out of student presenters to date! Please visit our National Coastal Conference page for more information.

A lowered student registration rate of $200 is offered for the fall conference. Additional funding is available through opportunities to volunteer or as a student award winner. Please frequently check back with the website for the latest student and conference information, such as the deadline for the 2012 Call for Awards, including the two student awards: the Coastal Scholar Award and the Educational Award. For additional information regarding student opportunities with ASBPA, please contact Tiffany Roberts.

Photos: At the 2010 National Coastal Conference, students from across the nation gathered in Charleston, SC to discuss their research and meet with other students and practicing coastal scientists and engineers advancing their academic and professional careers. But it wasn’t all work and no play! The students broke into groups of “geologists” and “engineers” to compete with other members of the organization in games of bocce ball and cornhole toss.
